Thiruvadavur

The historic Thiruvadavur (situated 30 km from Madurai.) is one of the important Historic villages of Madurai District and famous for its 1200 year old early Pandya Siva Temple namely Thirumarainathar Temple which was later renewed by Nayak and Nattukottai Nagarathar. This is the birth place of one among the 4 important Saiva Saint Manickavasakar. Many stone inscriptions belongs 12th Century Late Pandya and Nayak period available in this Temple. The historic Heritage water body namely Vulakalantha Cholapereri is exists in this village with a special statue called Purusamirugam.
