The word festival is derived from Latin through old French. It was originally used as an adjective from the 14th century onwards. Its first recorded use as noun was in 1589.Festivals are happy moments commonly celebrated by a community or group of people or country and they centre on some characteristic aspects of the community or group or country and its religion or culture.
