Thenkarai gives a fell od stepping back in time, into a world that still resonates with the echoes of ancient Tamil Nadu. Ancient village- Thenkarai, on the river bank of Vaigai River is nestled amidst towering coconut trees, white sand, and the lush green expanse of water-rich land, greets with its tranquil charm. Surrounded by the Nagamalai range to the north, this village is a hidden gem that still clings to its past, despite the modern highways that now bypass it. A temple built by Veerapandian in 946-966 AD with more than 80 stone inscriptions and 7th Century AD largest irrigation waterbody was built during Pandian King Seliyonsenthan exist in this village.
